March 20th, revising my Korean language textbook, one sentence caught my attention. It said, " 한국에는 사 계절이 있습니다. 봄, 여름, 가을 겨울 입니다." i.e. "Korea has four seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter." it's not that we in India don't see the four seasons but at some places generally and at Delhi particularly, spring and autumn seasons are not well defined. Of course we don't have apple or cherry trees in Delhi, still, it is not the absence of cherry blossoms but the short length of seasons that makes it hard to figure out, just when the winters/summers start!
North Campus of Delhi University could be one of the places in Delhi where one can feel the transition from winter to summer; same can be seen in well maintained parks at Dwarka and South Delhi areas. Trees with bright new leaves and colorful flowers are very conspicuous.
Seeing these flowers remind me of the time when I had to take a lot of pictures of flowers in 2010 for botany assignment of a cousin. Back then, using low res. phone camera, so I had to go really close to flowers which were in "public places" which was somewhat awkward. Though it made me really happy when I saw her final assignment.
A few days before 20th March, I felt that temperature was a bit lower than usual so I asked my friend about it, while going in a bus; somebody standing nearby suggested that there was snowfall in Mussoorie which could be the reason. Good for us! but as the heat will rise in coming days, streets will look deserted and most of these flowers will be gone. Perhaps only Gulmohar tree will remain colorful during peak of summer, and till the rains.
